Dietary Protection of the future angle / metaphor

Tuesday, May 26 2009 - ג' סיון תשס"ט
Chana Leah
bs"D Could a view of the prohibition of boiling a kid in his mother’s milk be linked to the protection of resources for the upcoming generation(s) /safe-guarding of kids/ as contrasted with exploiting resources for the principal gratification of the current (society’s) momentary desires /mother’s milk/. This is parallel to the emphasis on the preeminence of the requirement for chesed prevailing.

chesed/gevurah

Why do we not start out every meal with something dairy, in order to be sure that Chesed always dominates Gevurah?

Every week, we go into Shabbos on a higher consciousness... this week we go into Shavuous on a higher level of consciousness - a taste of the Geulah Sholaima, when G-dliness will envelope and cover the earth like the waters cover the Ocean floors. our sincere thanks to the entire "theYeshiva.net" team.

Food

Why does it seem that alomst every Shiur includes a very graphic, detailed, succulent, mouth-watering, salivating description of some type of food and the eating process?

Bottom or Top

On a logical halachic level, is the fact that heat rises a factor in paskening that the bottom food takes precedence? Thank you for a thought spinning shiur and so much appreciation to David and Eda Schottenstein. Gut Yomtov and thank you to all those involved in this unique project

Wow!!!! I really loved it! I'm a little confused with the milk being Chesed, because the fire also has almost the same property of not loosing by giving. However, it is the quintessence of Gvura, isn't it?

Only love?

Wednesday, May 27 2009 - ד' סיון תשס"ט
Aroni
Dear rabi, In your lecture you suggest the abstinence of anger in a time of upset. You say that if someone does something wrong to you, that instead of reprimanding them it is preferable to refrain and rather express love. However how will that rectify the matter that upsets you. If you ignore the facts of what angers you, it is going to lead only to harbor more anger inside and bottle it up until it will just explode, resulting a much worse situation......??

just because i rarely send you an email should NOT be construed that i am NOT watching/Listening every week. i look forward to Monday nights as a high point in my week. i usually have tons to communicate with you about, but as the next morning awakes with its demands, i many times shelf my emotions hoping to have an energetic moment in my future to express myself. well today, i guess, i Boruch "H", feel energetic enough to re think about what i thought about last night during the Shiur. one important point i remember is that i did not feel clear until the Melochim explanation unfolded, what was meant by the "Above first" or the "Below first", maybe it was just my own thick skull, but i did not understand if above meant above in temperature, above in space, above in hierachy of brochas or creation. i could have gained from a clearer definition when the Above/Below Halacha was introduced. of course as you ended it was ALL totally clear! both last week Bemidbar and this Cheescake Shiur made me scream "Bravo" and Throw your entire team a fresh bouquet of Roses like they do to a Figure Skating Champion or a Music Soloist/Opera Singer at the end of a Moving Concert. i am still in the Audio CD promotion business. i go to our Rav, Rabbi Lesches' Shiur on Samach Vav wednesday nights and bring with me about 10 CDs. i have created my own waiting customers looking forward to a Torah car ride and an Improved Shabbos [this week Yom Tov]. i especially relate to my own Disabled situation as it relates to many of the concepts you highlight. i also have come to the realization that my own Chesed trait is not in balance, with last nights discussion accentuating how important it is to be in balance. May we ALL re- Accept our Holy Torah in Great Joy and Inner Understandings!

milk chesed?

Thursday, May 13 2010 - כ"ט אייר תש"ע
shaul
You say that milk is chesed because when you give it, you don't lose what you have. However, as you note, fire is similar, yet symbolizes gevurah. What is the difference, then, between milk and fire? Is it that not only does the mother not lose the milk, but she actually produces even more (whereas with fire, you don't produce more fire from giving it away)?

Can't download curriculum

Monday, May 17 2010 - ד' סיון תש"ע
Yona
I've downloaded the curriculum last Friday but don't succeed to do it again today.

The same ocurred last Thursday with "What we ask from life etc" even though I tried from 2 different computers.

It's maybe connected with the fact that these are classes from last year.

Please fix.
